Google Empowers Indian Farmers with New AI-Powered Agricultural Tools

TechGoogle Empowers Indian Farmers with New AI-Powered Agricultural Tools

Google has announced the rollout of a suite of AI tools aimed at assisting Indian farmers in managing crops more efficiently. The tools, developed in collaboration with the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), provide hyperlocal weather forecasts, disease and pest detection, and crop advisory services via Google Search and the Google Pay app.

By integrating satellite imagery, machine learning, and on-ground data collection, the platform delivers real-time insights that are expected to help farmers make more informed decisions—especially in rural areas where climate change and resource scarcity are pressing challenges.

The new initiative is part of Google’s broader plan to empower underserved communities using AI. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, stated: “We are committed to ensuring AI serves everyone, including those in agriculture who need it the most.”

Experts believe this step could significantly improve food security, crop yield, and rural income levels in the coming years. The AI tools are available in Hindi and several other Indian languages to ensure accessibility and impact.
