Gold Coast Marathon 2025 Breaks Records and Barriers

The 2025 Gold Coast Marathon lived up to its legacy of inspiration and international acclaim, drawing more than 39,000 runners, including 3,500 international participants from 50+ countries.

In a stunning performance, Japan’s Yuki Takei set a new men’s course record with a finish time of 2:07:33, while Ethiopia’s Tegest Ymer dominated the women’s field in an emotional and powerful victory.

However, the marathon was more than a race—it was a celebration of personal triumph:

  • Pete Gutbrod, age 58, completed seven marathons across seven Australian states in seven days, raising over $15,000 for child protection charity Bravehearts.

  • Veteran marathoner Amanda Bisa completed her 98th marathon, inching closer to her personal goal of 100.

  • Tash Sibaie, running in honor of her twin sister battling cancer, finished her first marathon in a powerful tribute to resilience and love.

The wheelchair events also shone brightly, with Samuel Rizzo and Madison de Rozario winning in their respective divisions.

Organizers implemented additional safety features, including eight mobile first-aid units and tighter road closures, ensuring a smooth and secure event from start to finish. With heartfelt stories and world-class performances, the 2025 Gold Coast Marathon proved to be more than a competition—it was a movement of the human spirit.
